You must consult the PHP fault log to know what is going on here. I am wondering almost the upgrade procedure employed based on the issue summary. The usual procedure is to update files en-masse.
Take same issue. Was there a solution or did you revert?
After applying the cadre patch from https://world wide web.drupal.org/node/2786443, I was able to become a more detailed error bulletin relating to the update. The update then throws the error:
RuntimeException: Unable to determine class for field type 'address' found in the 'field.storage.contour.address' configuration in Drupal\field\FieldStorageConfigStorage->mapFromStorageRecords() (line 157 of cadre/modules/field/src/FieldStorageConfigStorage.php).Afterwards updating a requirement for commerce and the addressing module in composer, the detailed error was cleared out. Now I merely have an unexpected error message with no details.

If there is a 500 error something is logged.
cilefen. That is true, notwithstanding the log nor whatever page can exist reached. They all generate an unexpected error with no additional information. I have checked the database and cannot discover sufficient data in watchdog to attempt to back trace the issue.
Hi, have y'all tried to revert your modify and and then accessing your log once again?

Then I was able to fix my issue. Obviously there were several tables which did not make it properly through the needed updates. Have yous attempted to update off a clean database? If you are able, which over again was the case for usa, and so you could migrate the data afterward the fact to match the correct format.
I did the install once over again. Currently I have the Mistake log page open up:
Information technology has too logs:
Message UnexpectedValueException: External URLs do not have an internal route name. in Drupal\Core\Url->getRouteName() (line 554 of /habitation/geowebonstott/public_html/core/lib/Drupal/Core/Url.php).

I have attached an screen shot of the list of errors.
Please advise on what to exercise next.
In the update process it talks about updating the settings.php folio with the data from the default.settings.php, listed beneath. Is that a process that needs to exist done?
Or do you come across another issue?
Cheers for your quick response @cilefen. Great that is skilful news that I practice non need the actress step.
In my module binder on the installation-root: admin toolbar, asset injector, contri, libraries, superfish, and weight are listed.
Do you lot think it has something to do with the libraries? Did I read in the notes that they accept been moved?
Much appreciated, g.one thousand

The last fourth dimension with the aforementioned error it was superfish, if memory serves.
I had an result with Superfish non be in order in the dropdown. That was in a unlike thread.
What would be an appropriate mode to prepare this? Would I loose my menu if I disable it to examination?
Or should I merely rewrite the module files?

Thanks for the reminder. Allow me try that once again. I thought my issue was with Biblio at the time.
I took off all instances, but had another site with Biblio. Volition written report back if this works.
Will you be that the Central NJ Drupal Con?
Endmost this mystery. Catastrophe with a Large FAT Thanks!
After thinking my update consequence was new, it turned out to be a duplicate consequence with Superfish and the Drupal 8.ii.five update. This patch instantly solved my trouble.
Thanks you so much! Now I can go near my progress work instead of returning back to this issue.

Nosotros must evidence the detail of error outset. Afterward that will know how to fix.
I copy here FYI form https://drupal.stackexchange.com/questions/49905/the-website-encountered...
"If using drush, just do: drush vset error_level 1.
Otherwise, become to /admin/config/development/logging and change the setting to "Errors and Warnings"
Drupal 8
Instead of drush vset/vget/vdel, you can use cset/cget/cdel for config values and sset/sget/sdel for state values."
I have done a Backup restore on from my Drupal 8.two.x website and database, and now I tin can access only the front page. If I click any other page I get the error that
"The website encountered an unexpected error. Please attempt again later."
I can not access the admin account to check the Drupal report,
I have desperately searched the Drupal Forum for a solution but I could not observe any.
I did core upgrade from 8.2.x to viii.3.5, the site worked at first but when I ran database update the whole website was messed up and the has to restore the site from server Backup, but now I have this outcome. Delight note that the backup is from fully functional website.
Please allow me know how I can solve this. (the website mhe-krg.org)

I've revolved via this animal forcefulness method, about the terminal steps before wiping a big D8 site. After upgrading an existing site'south core to D8.l, I got the dreaded "The website encountered an unexpected error. Please effort again later.". The solution that worked in many cases, including this one was appending site.com/install.php Afterward [enter], the site firsthand launches the blue UI, in the site.com/update.php folio, allowing to go along on with the upgrade procedure. If you lot look your filesystem observe that several folders and file's permissions go flipped after running install/update multiple times later encountering the "The website encountered an unexpected error" error. Good luck!

Ran into like problem subsequently installing D v viii.5.1. Was unable to run settings on a sub_theme installation, also could not run update.php stalled past mistake message "The website encountered an unexpected error. Delight try once more later." Thank you to @maine_inventor #26 whose suggstion to attempt running "site.com/install.php" helped every bit it revealed the culprit module 'Folio Director' in my case. Uninstalling resolved the issue. By the way I also realised that upgrading php from 5.6 to v7.1 in php director (root access) triggerred similar error message. My understanding was that D v 8.5.1 was meant to run on php v7>. I may exist missing something here.
Getting this message on an upgrade from 8.iv->8.5

I had the aforementioned problem of the white folio saying "The website encountered an unexpected error. Please endeavour again later.". I checked cPanel and it says ea-php56 (inherited). Surprisingly drupal 8.half-dozen installations went through that is why I did non detect in the beginning place. At that place should exist waring or something maxim " Sir yous are installing Drupa 8 in a system of PHP 5.six version, PHP vii.0 or higher is recommended during the installation phase, NOt THE After". Yeah, it was I went to WHM changed the default PHP to 7.0 but still, the problem persists. I had to uninstall Drupal 8 and reinstall under PHP 7.0.
You know this reminds me of a critical software design issue. if Drupal core is not checking its environs like PHP it will always be a problem every time core updates because PHP version would be an sometime one and updating PHP afterwards doesn't bear upon existing Drupal core.
Hope my post helps someone in a similar case.
